Golf England Urgently Requests Public Support for 2030 Women's Golf Showcase Bid
The most recent Solheim Cup taking place in Europe was in Spain in 2023, while the upcoming edition scheduled for Holland four years from now.
In the wake of the latest men's golf championship triumph, the national golf association is calling on the government to underwrite its bid to organize the premier women's golf event on English soil for the very first occasion.
This renowned contest between the best female golfers from Europe and America has taken place on two occasions in Scotland as well as once in Wales but never in England. A bid has been assembled to organize it at the Grove venue within Hertfordshire eight years from now.
Yet organizers are seeking £30m to support the bid and currently only £10m has been secured. England Golf is pressing for government funding to underwrite the shortfall.
Financial Requirements and Timeline
Discussions to secure government support commenced in early spring yet an answer on whether support will be provided is required quickly. The rights for the 2030 tournament are owned by IMG who demand a decision by the end of this month.
Per the proposal papers, England Golf believes that winning the hosting rights "provides huge value to the nation".

Urgent Timeline
The executive refused to say that talks have stalled, but acknowledged: "Undoubtedly there is a dilemma currently with regards to whether or not the Treasury can support premier competitions."
